Eddie Dean (Pete) Hunt a resident of Henryetta, died March 20, 2024 in Tulsa at the age of 70. He was born Dec. 5, 1953 in Weleetka to James and Geneva (Burden) Hunt. Eddie grew up in Weleetka and completed his education there. He made a career in law enforcement, he was a Chief of Police in Dewar, Ok and then an undercover officer and moved up in ranks to the assistant Chief with the Henryetta Police Department. He later worked as a meat cutter, oilfields as a driller, tool pusher, pumper and pipe liner as well as a rancher.
He is preceded in death by a son, J.J. Hunt; paternal grandparents, Joel and Cora (Hollis) Hunt; maternal grandparents, Jack and Augusta (Stephenson) Burden.
He is survived by his sister Donna and husband Jim Miller of Weleetka; stepsons: JW and wife Chrissy Woods and Kyle Woods of Weleetka; granddaughters: Alexia Skye Woods of Kenai, Alaska, Adalynn Woods of Weleetka, and Anastasia & Biloxi (Davis) Woods of Weleetka; grandson: Leon Woods of Weleetka
Wake service will be held at 7 p.m., Sunday, March 24 at the Weleetka United Methodist Church.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Monday, March 25 at the Weleetka United Methodist Church with Pastor David Dunson Officiating. Interment will follow at the Hillcrest Cemetery under the direction of the Rogers Funeral Home.
