Dorothy Burden and Susan Barnett were co-hostesses for the November 17 meeting of the Okemah Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution at Pepino’s Restaurant in Okemah.     
Burden recently received a prestigious award from AARP recognizing her work with Native Americans.  Margaret Parks also noted that Dorothy represents the Okemah Chapter on the American Indian National Committee.
Okemah Chapter is always happy to honor veterans and did just that at a reception held at the American Legion in Okemah Nov. 14.  Veterans were recognized for their service and enjoyed the visitation and refreshments.
VeteransReception2015Regent Bradley also announced that as of November 15, 2015, the chapter has two new members whose applications were approved by the National Society of DAR:  Robin Ballard and Jenny Cody-Knopp.  Welcome Robin and Jenny!
After the opening ritual and business session, chapter Vice Regent, Ann Jackson, gave a most interesting and informative presentation about President Andrew Jackson.
The next meeting will be hosted by Theo Crawley Jan. 19, 2016, at 11:30 a.m. at Pepino’s Restaurant in Okemah.  The program, “DAR Schools,” will be presented by Theo Crawley.  Members please remember to bring gifts for our hospitalized veterans.
