Okmulgee County Republicans will be meeting Feb. 3 to select delegates for the state convention.
Precinct meetings will be held Tuesday, Feb. 3 in the OSUIT Student Union building at 7 p.m.
Janica Edmonds, Okmulgee County Republican Chairman, stated that the main business of the meetings will be to elect delegates to the County Convention, which will take place on March 10, 2015 and to discuss the Okmulgee County Platform.
Edmonds said precinct meetings are an opportunity for every registered Republican to participate first hand in grassroots politics.  "These meetings are open to all registered Republicans in the precinct, and we encourage all Republicans to participate." In Oklahoma, attending a precinct meeting is the first step in the election of delegates to the Oklahoma Republican State Convention to be held in Oklahoma City Saturday, April 11, 2015.
To participate in the precinct meetings, a person must be a registered Republican voter of the precinct to take part in a precinct meeting or to serve as a delegate to any Republican convention. "Others are most welcome to attend the meetings but may not vote.  These meetings are informative with time allowed for discussing problems at the local, state and national levels.
“Any Okmulgee County Republican who wants to participate in the County Convention but is unable to attend the Precinct Meeting must contact me before March 1 to become a delegate. We want everyone to have the opportunity to get involved."
