Henryetta Middle School students were able to incorporate STEM instruction into their English project.
That was demonstrated Monday night by teacher Felicia McGowin.
She said a nearly $500 grant funded through OK Bounce last year purchased some novels for her classroom. "This project ended up using STEM skills to design a game board." That game board was used in place of a normal test.
McGowin said students designed their games, specialized spaces and symbols.
"I had 19 groups and they had three class days to do it." Those students also came back in during their own free time to finish the project. "I had 35 to 40 kids in the classroom working on their own time," she said.
"You don't thing about STEM in English. The kids put a lot of effort in it."
