Car crashes are the leading cause of death in young people in Oklahoma each year. Many of those fatalities involve alcohol.
The problem was driven home to students at Green Country Technology Center this week with a mock car crash that resulted in one fatality, four injuries and one person jailed.
Two vehicles were positioned as they would appear in an accident and the "victims" liberally splattered with simulated blood to highlight their injuries.
The gory scene included participation from fireĀ and EMS crews as well as police and even a helicopter.
Making up the cast were:
Kendall Harris, one of the drivers who had been drinking; her passengers, Kayla Bruckman and Patience Fowler; a second driver, Ajasha Demery and passenger Trista Harjo.
With them were terrified witnesses Kaylee Watson and Ray-Lynn Henry and distraught mothers Barbara Grogan and Manye Foreman.
