The summer lunch program through the Feed the Children is going to start June 1 in Henryetta and Dewar. It will be held Monday through Friday and run through July.
methodist feedThis year the sites will include Immanuel Baptist Church, New Lake Village and McCutcheon Park in Henryetta and Eagle Heights Christian Center in Dewar.
The program is open to all children 18 and younger with meals provided on a first come, first served basis.
Feed the Children’s Summer Food and Education Program not only provides nourishing meals, but also feeds children’s minds. Knowing that education can break the poverty cycle, the organization incorporates education into the program, providing free books at each site. By the end of last summer, more than 16,000 books were distributed. Children in the program also received school supplies and backpacks. Additionally, feeding sites received sports equipment to engage children in healthy sports and recreational activities.
The program times for each location include:
Eagle Heights 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. June 1 through July 15.
Immanuel Baptist Church 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. June 1 through July 29.
New Lake Village 11:30 to 12:30 June 1 through July 29
McCutcheon Park Noon to 1 p.m. June 1 through July 29.
