Henryetta saw around 20 bicyclists come through town Friday night and Saturday morning.
IMG 8447For the seventh year, the First United Methodist church was the overnight stopping place for Bike and Build participants.
While here, the group got to wash off the grime from a grueling 100-mile ride from Van Burn, Ark., and enjoy a hearty meal.
Church members and several city officials were on hand to greet the riders and visit with them about their journey. The Friday ride saw the volunteers really tested as they endured the scorching Oklahoma heat and humidity as well as a plaque of flat tires.
The riders left South Carolina May 21. Their journey will take them to Santa Cruz, Calif.,  with arrival Aug. 10.
Along the way they will be working with Habitat for Humanity building homes for low income residents. In Oklahoma, that stop was going to be in Oklahoma City Monday, June 20.
"We enjoy hosting the riders and being a part of such an enterprise," said church pastor Kyle Kiner. "In the three months they do this, they leave a lasting impression, not only on the people whose homes they build, but also on the people along the way. Our church is fortunate to be a part of this effort."
