The Henryetta High School Student Council is sponsoring a blood drive Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Set at the high school gymnasium, the effort benefits graduating seniors with every unit of blood representing scholarship money from the American Red Cross.
Sponsor Lisa Ward said last year the blood drives earned $1,000 in scholarship money, which was awarded in $250 scholarships to seniors Amanda Trammell, Brian Smith, Brandon McCoy, and Nichole Campos.

"This year the blood drives have already yielded over 100 units of blood, which equals $1,000 in scholarship money from the Red Cross."
She said another blood drive will be held May 7 with a goal of 50 units at each drive. That would double the amount donated last year and provide $2,000 in scholarship money.
Donors from the general public are invited to participate.
