Christopher David Hanna , 44, died Feb. 14, 2015, at the University of Kansas Medical Center. Chris was born Sept. 3, 1970, in Wichita, Kan., the son of former Henryettan Janice Ann (Muehlhausen) and William Wesley "Bill" Hanna. He graduated from Southeast High School in Wichita. He received his undergraduate degree in business administration from the University of Kansas and his MBA and Law degrees from the University of Texas at Austin.
He was member of the Delta Upsilon Fraternity, KU Alumni Association, and served on several volunteer boards including the KU Memorial Union Corporation Board and the Associate Board of Advisors for the KU School of Business.
As a self-employed businessman, Chris had previously been employed at Hill's Pet Nutrition, Americans for Prosperity and was a founder and partner in the The BleuJacket restaurant. Chris was active in the Lawrence community as the golf coach at Bishop Seabury Academy and enjoyed golfing with his family and friends.
Chris married Teresa (Lynch) Hanna Aug. 9, 1997, in Beaver Creek, Colo.
Chris is survived by his wife, Teresa; his daughter, Shea Elise Hanna and his son, Ian Hamilton Hanna, all of the home; father, Bill Hanna of Wichita; and two brothers, Jon and wife, Christine Hanna, Edmond, Paul and wife, Elizabeth Hanna, The Woodlands, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Janice Hanna.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Feb. 23, 2015, at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, Lawrence.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made in his name to KU Endowment, P.O. Box 928, Lawrence, KS 66044-0928, to benefit the Chris Hanna Entrepreneurship Fund at the KU School of Business or the Traumatic Brain Injury Program at the University of Kansas Hospital.
