The burn ban in Okmulgee County is continuing for another week.
Area firefighters were kept busy over the weekend trying to stay ahead of the wind-driven flames.
Around 200 acres went up in smoke in two fires near Pharoah working volunteer firemen for over six hours.
Another blaze was battled near Clearview but so far nothing major has happened in the immediate Henryetta area.
“We have been lucky so far,” said fire chief David Bullard. “Our men helped in a fire south of Salem but that’s the only one.”
He said higher humidity Sunday and Monday has helped but a good, soaking rain is needed. “We are still a few weeks off before the pastures start greening up. That will cut down on the fire risk significantly.”
Burn bans are in effect around the area including Creek, McIntosh, Muskogee, Wagoner and Tulsa counties.
