Four students at Henryetta Middle School have set a mark for the other students.
The four, Kylie Adair, Cory Knox, Shayna Arthur and Tamara Smith, reached the "Million Word Challenge" goal.
That challenge was set out by superintendent Dwayne Noble at the start of the school year.
He issued the challenge to encourage students in all the grades to read more throughout the year.
Middle School principal Brad Wion said there are several other students that are halfway to that mark and expect to reach it by the end of the year.
Reading over 500,000 words are: Tevan Arthur, Maddie Walters, Keein Heneha, Henna Majera, Jordan Proctor, Sierra Miller, John Wallace and Maddie Melton.
