The 2014-15 Henryetta basketball season came to an end on a snowy afternoon in Okemah Friday.
Playing in the second game at the 3A Area 3 tournament, the Lady Knights fell to Eufaula 65-33 and the Knights lost out to Beggs 62-74.
In the opening game, the HHS girls found baskets were going to be hard to get with the Lady Knights scoring only four points in the first quarter. Those points came from a pair of free throws by Hanna Gouge and a two-point field goal from Maddie Gouge. By that time, the lady Ironheads bagged a trio of three pointers and three two-point field goals as well as four out of six free throws to lead 19-4.
henryetta tried to rally back in the second and third quarters with ten and 11 points in each but Eufaula kept slamming in the goals.
Mykaela Wallace led the Henryetta scoring with 11 total points, while Hanna Gouge had ten during the game. Kamarie Wallace picked up six for Henryetta followed by Maddie Gouge with four and Maddie James, two. Henryetta
that was a game that saw the two teams go to the free throw line seven times. Henryetta picked up four points and Eufaula sank six out of eight tries. The nine successful three-point field goals the Lady Ironheads were able to get could not be overcome by the Lady Knights.
A third-quarter attack by the Beggs Demons put the Knights in a hole they couldn't get out of.
Henryetta only trailed by one point, 15-16 at the end of the first quarter.
The Knights kept up almost shot for shot with the Demons with Heath Konsure and Brannon Murphy getting the first goals for the Knights.
The game saw both teams tied three times during that first period.
In the second period, the Knights popped in 15 points while Beggs got 18 for a 34-30 advantage.
Four three-point field goals and conversions of five out of seven free throws in the third period gave Beggs a 55-42 lead.
Konsure would eventually finish up the game with 17 points for the Knights. Murphy hit four points in the first and a pair of three-point goals in the second. He fouled out in the fourth quarter with a total of ten points during the evening.
Kalil Lewis contributed a pair of three pointers in the first quarter then added seven more in the second and third periods. He was shut out of the scoring in the fourth.
Avery Moore and devin Longan each had seven points and Riley Berry put eight on the Henryetta board.
