A nine-month-old infant was fatally injured in a single vehicle crash Monday morning on Interstate 40.That crash occurred just before 8 a.m. about 12 miles west of Checotah.
According to OHP Trooper Trey Downum, the crash happened when a 2008 Ford Fusion driven by Kaylin Britt, 24, Dewar, was eastbound on I-40 and went off the roadway. The car struck a culvert and several trees then spun around ejecting the infant.
Trooper Downum said the infant was taken to the Henryetta Hillcrest Medical Center where he was pronounced dead upon arrival.
Britt was taken by Tulsa Life Flight to St. Francis hospital in Tulsa. She was listed in critical condition with head and body injuries.
The cause of the crash is still being investigated.
