The HHS Lady Knights tennis team narrowly beat out the Grove Ridgerunners for first place in the Henryetta Invitational Thursday.
First place in the 1 doubles went to the team of Summer Bryant and Rachel Montgomery when they downed Grove’s DuBois and Kerr in the finals 4,5. The second HHS 1 doubles team of Glass and Hage took fifth place with a 4,1 victory over Sapulpa.
Fallon Rodgers had back to back wins against Jayden Nelson of Sapulpa and Takama Tanner from Grove to get into the finals. She had to settle for second place with a 1,1 loss to Alicia Muro from Riverfield.
The other Henryetta 1 singles entry, Taylor Hodge finished fifth with a 2,2 win against Nelson.
Natalie Smith tied up three consecutive wins in the 2 singles, taking out Sapulpa and Riverfield then winning 1,0 over Riverfield.
In 2 doubles, the Henryetta II team of Gold and Hodges started out with a win over Sapulpa but lost to Grove. That sent them into the match against Oologah where they lost 4,4 putting them in fourth place. The Henryetta team of Davis and Hehr had to settle for a 1,0 fifth place win against Sapulpa.
