Okmulgee County assessor Vonna Lampkins says over 120 pieces of property will be going up for bid in June.
court houseThe annual delinquent tax sale will be held at 9 a.m. at the county treasurer’s office in Okmulgee.
“These properties are those that have not had taxes paid on them in the past four years,” Lampkins said. “They may have houses or buildings on them while others are just open land.”
Property owners can bring the taxes up to date from now until the time a “Resale Deed” is filed with the Okmulgee County Clerk.
Anyone wishing to purchase the delinquent tax properties must pay with cash or certified check at the time of the sale, she said. Personal checks will not be accepted unless the buyer can attach a letter of credit from their bank. All successful bidders must pay all taxes due and an additional costs at the time of the sale.
A list of the properties is available at the treasurer’s office for $20. That list contains the address, weed assessments and starting bid for each property. Those starting bids could change by June 12 due to additional costs.
