Members of the Henryetta Boy Scout Troop 118 are trying to make sure children do not go hungry in town.
scoutsTroop members spent the weekend putting up a food box at the First Baptist church then stocked it with a variety of canned and packaged foods.
The community food box was proposed by the church youth group last fall. and the scouts took that on as a project.
Over the weekend the boys dug the hole then mounted the pole in concrete. A double door box was built by Randy Prahl then Monday evening, the scouts mounted it. Homeland donated the initial supply of food.
Donations to the free food bank can be made by local residents through the First Baptist office.
A dedication and reveal will be held at the church at 7 p.m. May 3.
For more information, contact Baptist pastor Rick Harrison.
Scouts involved included: Bradley Dodson, Aiden Aguilar, Xander Lollis, Chance Skotchedpole, Chase Thompson, Xzavier Jones, Jackson Powders, Bryce Stewart and Lucas Thompson.
