Monday saw the HHS Lady Knights endure a long and challenging series of matches to claim the 4A girls regional championships.
The 1 doubles team of Summer Bryant and Rachel Montgomery were the winners of their bracket.
HHS junior Fallon Rodgers was runner-up in the 1 singles and Henryetta sophomore Natalie Smith placed second in 2 singles.
The Henryetta 2 doubles team of Bailey Davis and Haley Glass opened with a win but lost out to Perry forcing them into back to back must-win matches that ended up with the HHS girls taking third.   
“There was some serious competition and our girls stepped up to the challenge,” said coach Dustin Mosco.
In the 1 doubles, Bryant and Montgomery had a 23-6 record going into the regionals. They one straight sets over Victory Christian then downed Wagoner 4,0 for a place in the finals. That ended up with Bryant, a junior and Montgomery, a senior facing Perry seniors Stacy Bendure and Alyssa Hall. Perry had a perfect record going into that finals match.
The HHS girls came away with a 5,4,3 win for their first place title.
In 1 singles, Rodgers had defeated Jayden Hopkins from Bristow and Kay Roberts, Wagoner in identical matches 2,0 to get into the finals. She lost two sets to Alicia Muro from Riverfield.
The lengthy 2 singles contest between HHS sophomore Smith and Riverfield senior Erica Kelly saw Smith win the opening set but lost the final two giving her second place and a 22-11 record for the year.
Henryetta’s Bailey Davis and Haley Glass won their opener seminole but lost 1,2 to perry. That pitted them against Riverfield’s Fox and Mason in a must-win match. The HHS girls came away with a 1,6 win then downed Grace and Olivia Watters from Seminole 4,2 for third place.
The Lady Knights will be playing in the state tournament May 5 and 6 at the Oklahoma City Tennis Center.
