School may be out this week but a determined bunch of Knights will be trying to bring back honors for HHS.
jordanThe Knights came in second at the 4A boys regional tennis tournament Monday which means Henryetta will have a full compliment of players going to state Friday and Saturday.
Henryetta had all four spots on the brackets filled going into the finals but Bishop McGuinness was not to be overcome. Instead of taking first, Henryetta netsters had to take the second place medals.
Wagoner placed third and Perry placed fourth in the tournament.
In 1 singles, Colton Wion drew a bye in the first round them started his march to the finals with 6-0 and 6-2 wins over Chester Stubbs from Perry. He defeated Jose Garcia from Tecumseh in the semi finals 6-0 and 6-1. James Fritts, McGuinness, was the 1 singles winner posting 6-0 and 4-2 wins.
The Henryetta 1 doubles team of Jerett Day and Tyger Freeman blanked Gallup and Foster from Okmulgee then went on to win back to back 4-2 and 4-2 against Hagan and Walker from Perry. That put them up against Buchanan and Buwick from McGuinness. The Knights would battle hard in the first set, losing 5-3 but were blanked 6-0 in the final.
Jordan Knox sped past Rae Debock form Beggs 6-0, 6-0 in his  tournament debute then had to fight through the semifinal match against Austin Condict form Wagoner. Knox would win 6-4, 5-3 and 4-2 to earn a spot in the finals. He lost to Will Puiggair from McGuinness 6-4 and 5-1.
In the 2 doubles matchup, Kanon Bailey and Keaton Lollis won 4-2 and 6-0 over Anderson and Axton from Tecumseh then 6-2 and 6-4 over Dumond and Mayfield from Wagoner. Once again, the Knights were facing McGuiness losing 5-3 and 0-6 to Gilpin and Buchanan.
The state tournament will be held at the OKC Tennis Center.
