A crash on the Indian Nation Turnpike Sunday claimed the life of a Maryland man.
According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, Mark Schwartz, jr., 27, died from massive injuries when he was thrown from his vehicle.
The crash happened around 2 p.m. on mile marker 98 when a 2016 Toyota Camry driven by Schwartz, went off the roadway and hit a guard rail. The force of the impact threw the driver some 12 feet away from the vehicle.
A passenger in the car, Leanna Pettis, 23, Bowling Green Missouri, was flown to St. John’s Hospital in Tulsa for treatment of arm and body injuries. She is listed in stable condition.
The crash temporarily closed down the turnpike.
