A free vision screening will be held at the Henryetta Early Head Start, 100 West Clegern Aug. 31.
Vizavance, formerly Prevent Blindness Oklahoma, is providing the service through their Children’s Vision Screening program and partnership with the Oklahoma Masonic Lodge.
Dianna Bonfiglio, Vizavance president, said "25 percent of school-aged children have an undiagnosed vision problem.” She pointed out 40 percent of children who fail an initial vision screening do not receive appropriate follow up care.
“During the 2015-2016 school year Vizavance screened 365,156 children throughout the state of Oklahoma. Of those children 36,368 were referred with possible vision problems for a comprehensive eye exam with their local optometrist or ophthalmologist.”
