A 9-year-old boy was killed after two boats collided Sunday night on Okmulgee Lake.
trotterAccording to Okmulgee police chief Joe Prentice, the victim along with another boy were in a small boat that was struck by a larger boat allegedly going at a high rate of speed. The second boy in the boat had to be flown to a Tulsa hospital. His condition and injuries have not been released.
The driver of the larger boat, Jared Trotter, 34, Okmulgee was arrested on complaints of operating a boat under the influence of intoxicants and manslaughter. A second man in the Trotter boat was said to have left after the crash.
neither of the youthful victims were identified by police.
Chief Prentice said anyone who witnessed the crash or has information about the second individual should call the police department at 918-756-3511.
In a separate incident, Okmulgee police were called to the Okmulgee Hospital where a 14-year-old girl was said to have been shot in the face.
She told officers a man known only as “Mizellaneouz” came to her house and assaulted her. The wound is said to be non-life threatening.
Prentice said anyone who knows the individual, “Mizellaneouz” should call his office.
