Over 1,500 pairs of feet tramped around the course at Nichols Park Saturday morning when the annual HHS cross country meet was held. This year the number of contestants was increased with a special pre-race run for first through fifth grade youngsters from all schools. HHS cross country coach Tim Gillispie said the special event was designed to introduce the sport to more possible competitors.
The HHS Knights team finished seventh in the 2 and 3A boys 5K run with Keaton Lollis turning in the best time for Henryetta. He finished 28th with a 4:03.86 followed by Austin Green, 30th with 4:05.22 Behind them were Nick Pak, 44th, Ryston Caron, 63 and Trevor King, 7th.
Two HHS girls competed in the 2 mile run with Bailey Worlow finishing 31st with a 7:45.68 time then Bayleigh Nye placing 33rd with a 7:46.88.
Sam Crow was the lone Henryetta junior varsity runner and finished 34th in the 5K with a 6:41.09 time.
In the junior high event, Henryetta’s firls captured eighth while the boys took fourth.
The girls results saw Alyssa Collett in 38th, Kaylee Watson, 57th, Lorena Martinez, 83rd, Gracie Lollis, 102nd and Gracie Lovell, 117th.
Henryetta middle school boys had Grant holder placing 21st, Jack Caywood, 33rd, Nick Hudson, 36th, Justice Warlow, 49th, Jordan Short, 57th, Ethan Lovell, 75th, Zackary Mullen, 76th, Jaxson Wright, 94th, Ethan Goodner, 96th, Ethan Palmer, 115th, Austin Palmer, 119th, Wyatt Coy 120th, Tucker Watson, 125th, David Reed, 127th and Chance Whitfield, 145th.
