Residents throughout the Henryetta area are still tallying up the damage from the Sunday afternoon storm that blew through starting around 2 p.m.
Rain, hail and high wind knocked out power, toppled trees and flooded roadways for a short time. The storm dropped around four inches of rain in about two hours.ditch
East Main saw several motorists stalled out as they tried to drive their vehicles through the high water in front of McDonalds. Several of those vehicles had to be pulled out.
West Main also was flooded for a short time at Ninth as well as between 14th and 15th streets.
Several people reported a loss of electricity for a short time.
The Nichols Park area was hardest hit by the high winds. Several large trees were broken and strewn around the area. Trans containers and porta potties were blown over and even the 100-foot tall flagpole bent from the force of the wind. One of those trees fell across the power line disrupting electrical service to the park. PSO crews were called and restored power several hours later.
Damage was reported to several homes in that area as well as the Okmulgee County District 3 barn.
Drainage ditches throughout Henryetta were filled within a few minutes, spewing leaves and debris onto the roadway. A couple of boys were seen taking advantage of the fast-flowing water to turn one ditch into their own water slide. Parents are cautioned by police to make sure their children are warned again such recreation since they could be trapped by debris or rocks.
