A fundraising free movie will be held Sept. 29 at the park south of the civic center.
Tuesday night Katie Morgan, owner of McIntosh Tumbling, received approval from the city council to hold the event.
She said there will be no charge to attend the movie but rather will be accepting donations to cover expenses for the local team to attend the national competition in Florida in June, 2018.
“There are 48 on the team and they need $1,500 each,” she said. “The kids will be doing fundraisers all year long.”
Morgan said there will be concessions available including a baked potato dinner, hot dogs, popcorn, cotton candy, funnel cakes, chips and sodas.
The event is expected to start at 5:30 with the movie, “Boss Baby,” showing at sunset.
“All the money will go to the kids.” That competition team consists of boys and girls from Henryetta as well as neighboring towns ranging from Weleetka, Okemah, Checotah, Holdenville and others.
