ribbon cut

There were balloons, dignitaries and even a band playing Tuesday as the official grand opening of the Henryetta Shoney's restaurant was held.
Owners Doug and Nancy Wadley sliced the red ribbon accompanied by several Shoney corporate officials including David Davoudpour, the company chairman and CEO.
Wadley said the opening was, "a long time coming," and not without some heartache. Doug Wilkes was originally tapped to be the general manager of the business but died in a car wreck weeks before the restaurant was built. His framed photograph was displayed next to the podium during the ceremony.
Also on hand for the event were State Rep. Scott Fetgatter and State Sen. Roger Thompson. Both praised the new business saying it is a boost to the overall economy of the area. Members of the Dewar band played the National Anthem and provided other music for the event.
