Over a dozen new steel grills have been installed at Nichols Park Saturday. The members of the Union Sportsmen Alliance braced the brisk wind to place the custom made grills throughout the park. This was the latest part of the work the organization has done in Henryetta.
These grills were fabricated by Apprentices of Sheet Metal Workers Local Union # 270 using material provided by members of SMACNA Oklahoma (Sheet Metal Air Conditioning Contractors National Association), one of the groups that helped with the Union Sportsman Alliance project.
The grill project was totally a project by these young men on their own time. A big thank you to Butch Winters, Director of Apprenticeship of SMW#270, Casey Winters and James Hunsucker, welding instructors for the SMW#270, and Apprentices, Jason Ross, Caleb Tootill, Mike Abbott, Austin Dennis, Dallas Baxter, Briar DeLozier, Cody Elliott, Cooper Bowman, Andre Fernandez, John Parks, Lonnie Tharp and Dillon Garrison.
