In the nightcap boys game, the Knights could not stop Preston’s senior guard C.J. Cochran. He had a game total of 31 points that sealed the 95-75 win against the Knights.
Scoring was slow for both teams in the girls game between HHS and Preston’s Lady Pirates. Preston was able to hold onto a 10-7 lead at the end of the first frame but used a pair of three-pointers to spur onto a 26-15 halftime advantage. Ashtyn Green was the mainstay in that period with back to back three-point goals. She would finish the night a total of 16 points. Those three-point goals made the difference for Preston in the third as they picked up another 20 points. Henryetta was almost matching shot for shot in that period with 17 points going on the board for a 46-32 difference. It was the fourth period that saw Kaylie Hamric get half of her 14 total points of the game. Lexie Lollis nailed down a three pointer to help the HHS girls outscore Preston with 14 points but it was not enough to overcome that first quarter advantage.
Preston’s boys pushed for a second quarter advantage in the follow-up game, outscoring the Knights by a dozen points. Most of those came from the free-throw line by Cochran. That would be a trend that he kept up the rest of the game.
