Larry Richard Guynes, a resident of Scranton, Ark., died Jan. 25, 2018 in Little Rock at the age of 74. He was born June 3, 1943 in Woodland, Calif. to Theodore Wesley Guynes and Betty Juanita (Dodd) Fast.
He married Deborah Lee (Green) Lindley May 22, 1998 in Fort Smith.
Larry was a veteran having served with the United States Marines where he was honorably discharged as Corporal after serving. Later Larry felt he wanted to serve his country again and enlisted in the United States Air Force where he served as Master Sergeant for two tours during the Vietnam War. During his time serving his country Larry was awarded with the Vietnam Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal as well as a Navy Unit Commendation. Larry worked on the Skunk Works Project, a classified project where he received special clearance with the United States Air Force. That included the Classified SR71 Blackbird spy planes as well as the U-2 and B1-17.
He is preceded in death by his parents; step-mom Ruby M (Blake) Guynes; grandparents Bill and Fanny Guynes; and brothers Theodore Wesley Guynes Jr and Donald Ray Guynes.
He is survived by his wife Deborah of the home; son Christopher Guynes of Henryetta; daughters: Jodi Malen and husband Kevin of Loma Rica, Calif., LaRae Russell and husband Robert of Henryetta, Memory Loveless and husband Victor of Broken Arrow, and Billie Pangle and husband Kenny of Henryetta; brothers Mike Guynes of Okmulgee and Jimmy Guynes of Henryetta; sister Brenda Putman and husband Don of Henryetta; 16 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other extended family and many good friends.
Viewing will be held Monday, January 29, 2018 from 5 to 8 p.m. in Henryetta at Integrity Funeral Service.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, January 30, 2018 at Integrity Chapel with Rev. Curt Russell officiating. Service arrangements have been entrusted to Integrity Funeral Service. Military honors will be provided by the Air Force.
