Even though there was a little rain earlier this week, it was not enough to prevent grass fires from quickly getting out of control.
Henryetta firemen were  called to a fire west of town Friday afternoon. The blaze was contained to a small area and was quickly extinguished.
"Until we get several days of a good soaking rain, people need to be careful about any burning," said fire chief David Bullard. "The wind has dried out vegetation throughout the area and it won't take much to start a blaze."
Okmulgee County commissioners will be discussing a burn ban at their meeting Monday morning. Several surrounding counties have already issued burn bans.
