Bible scripture says, “Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others.”
outreachThat is what is driving members of the Dewar First Baptist Church as they spend their free time helping others.
This week volunteers have been busy working at 25 projects from building fences and roofing homes to cleaning up yards.
“The church plan over the past two years has been to live out the Gospel,” said pastor Ryan Wells.
He was with one of the teams installing a new fence to take the place of an old, dilapidated one that was falling down and being a hazard.
The workers have been carrying out that effort to help others for the past two years. It has taken the shape of out of state trips to Missouri and Colorado as well as in the Dewar and Henryetta areas.
“Our people have loved it. They realize that not everyone has the money to do the work or the ability. They don’t have to repay us. Our church faithful give to the Mission Fund to make this possible.”
The work started Thursday and was expected to continue through Saturday.
