Henryetta’s Middle School boys tennis team sailed to a first place win this week in their tournament. The young Knights were tops over seven other schools that saw Riverfield place second and Byng wind up in third.
In the girls brackets, Henryetta placed third behind Riverfield and Shawnee.
The HMS team of Holder and Ritter started off with an 8-0 win over their teammates, Pixler and Reid on the Henryetta X team then went on to down Riverfield 8-2 for a spot in the finals. That pitted Henryetta against Byng’s boys with the HMS team taking an 8-7 decision.
The boys 2 doubles team of Nash and Josh Osterdock started off with an 8-1 win over Tahlequah then followed it up with an 8-2 decisiion over Shawnee. The 8-2 victory over Riverfield capped the championship for Henryetta.
In that same competition, Henryetta’s II team of Berryhill and King lost an 8-3 match against Byng then fell 8-6 to Seminole. They eventually won 8-1 over McAlester for seventh place.
Jordan Osterdock won his 1 singles opener with McAlester 8-0 but lost 8-2 to Riverfield. He was the third place winner with an 8-4 victory over Tahlequah.
On the girls side of the brackets, the Henryetta 1 doubles team of Davis and Nash were the 8-6 winners over Byng in their opener but lost 8-6 to Ada. They had to settle for fourth after losing to Riverfield.
Kellyn Lollis took an 8-4 win over Byng in her first match then downed Shawnee’s Grace Bryant 8-2 for a spot in the finals. She lost 8-0 to Tennyson Kronfield.
