Ernest Lee "Ernie" Gaston, Jr., a longtime resident of Henryetta, died May 18, 2018 in Henryetta at the age of 93. Ernie was born Feb. 15, 1925 in Henryetta to Ernest L. Gaston, Sr. and Ina (Bookout) Gaston.
Ernie grew in Henryetta and married the love of his life, Clorene Atwood June 10, 1944 in Henryetta. They remained happily married for 73 years until his death. Ernie began his working career at the PPG Glass plant in Henryetta where he served for 34 years before his retirement from PPG. Following that career, he became an electrical contractor, a career which spanned over many years. He is preceded in death by his mother and father.
Ernie is survived by his wife, Clorene Gaston of the home; two daughters: Carolyn Carper and husband Charles of Broken Arrow and Ernestine Hedrick of Morris; his sister, Ruth Gaston Krienhagen of Muskogee; two granddaughters: Kellie Gordineer of Coweta and Michele Berryhill and husband Joe of Morris; a grandson, Michael Kelley of Okmulgee; seven great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren; a nephew, James Trudeau and wife Mary Jo of Sallisaw; as well as other extended family and many good friends.
Viewing for Ernie will be held from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, May 21 and Tuesday, May 22, 2018 at Integrity Funeral Service.
A funeral service for Ernie will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 23, 2018 at Integrity Chapel in Henryetta with Rev. Rick Harrison officiating. A committal service and entombment will follow immediately at Westlawn Cemetery under the direction of Integrity Funeral Service of Henryetta.
Pallbearers will be Jimmy Tarwater, Larry Joe Jozwiak, Gene Hedrick, Jerry Dickey, Miles Sasser, and Joe Berryhill.
