Sample Ballots for the June 26th Primary Election are now available at the Okmulgee County Election Board office. Sample ballots can also be viewed at the Oklahoma State Election Board website.
“Oklahoma has three recognized political parties in 2018; Democratic, Republican and Libertarian,” said county election board secretary Ashley Carnes. “Each political party can nominate one candidate per office for the November General Election. If two or more candidates from the same party file for one office, the party nominee is selected at either the Primary or Runoff Primary Election.”
Only voters registered in a political party can vote to select that party's nominees. The Democratic Party are allowing Independent voters to vote in their primaries for 2018 and 2019.
“The State Election Board has a very helpful tool at their website which allows voters to verify their party affiliation, locate their polling location, track their absentee ballot, find early voting dates/hours, view sample ballots and view election night results,” Carnes went on to say. That website is www.ok.gov/elections
