Rev. Elroy Martin, a resident of Henryetta, died June 20, 2018 in Tulsa at the age of 82. Bro. Martin recently retired from pastoring the Morris United Pentecostal Church after many years. At the age of fourteen Bro. Martin was made youth leader of his church and as sectional youth leader at the age of 16 for his section. He began his ministry at the age of nineteen and pastored four churches, including Pueblo, Colorado, Hobbs, New Mexico, Temple, Texas and Morris, Oklahoma. Bro. Martin's ministry spanned over 60 years evangelizing, pastoring, doing dramas for camps, mentoring and encouraging all he could.
Among the survivors are his wife, LaJoyce Martin of the home; son Kevin Martin and wife Karen of Greenville, Tex.; daughter, Bethany Sledge and husband Rev. Carl Sledge of Berlin, Germany; four grandchildren and and his first great-grandchild on the way; brother, James K. Martin of Abilene, Tex.; sister, Rachel Looney and husband Bob of De Leon, Tex.; as well as nieces, nephews, friends and other relatives and his beloved church family.
Viewing will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Integrity Funeral Service with the family present to greet friends from 2 to 4 p.m.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m., Monday, June 25 at Dewar United Pentecostal Church with Rev. Don Martin and Rev. Matthew Martin officiating. Interment will follow in Salt Creek Cemetery under direction of Integrity Funeral Service.
