Elsie Jane Tecumseh was born Jan. 9, 1947 to George Wesley (GW) Harjo and Cora (Davis) Harjo in Talihina. She died Oct. 14, 2018 in Tulsa at the age of 71. Elsie retired from Ball Brothers Glass Company in Okmulgee after several years and later worked as a sales associate at Walmart in Henryetta.
She is preceded in death by her birth parents and mother, Sukey Lowe; son, Geronimo Louis Tecumseh; and sister, Pauline Harjo.
She is survived by one daughter, Carmin Tecumseh-Williams and Husband Joe Williams of Mounds; son, Simeon Lee Jr. and wife Theresa Wisner-Lee of Glenpool; stepdaughters: Sebrina Lee of Morris, Sharla (Lee) Harjo of Henryetta, and Selestene Lee of Okmulgee; daughter in-law Mulsie Tecumseh of Wilson Community; life long companion, Simeon Lee Sr.; grandchildren: Jeremy Tecumseh, Samantha Tecumseh, Logan Gore, Preston Williams, Brittney Williams, Solomon Lee, Simeon (Zeke) Lee, Samuel Lee, Sandra Smith, Michael Smith, Trenton Tarpalechee, Brian Tarpalechee Jr., Melanie Wisdom, Miranda Mack, JW Harjo III, Mason Harjo, Amanda Ramirez, Lauren Lee, Amaya Mendez, Armando Mendez, Liza Lewis; great grandchildren: Zechariah Louis Tecumseh, Renesmee Jo Tecumseh, Tvffolupv Breanne Tecumseh and Harper Rowe Tecumseh-Sands; sisters, Lucy Harjo (Edward) of Wewoka, Wisey Harjo of Sasakawa, Katherine Harjo of Sasakawa, Amanda (Bill) Gipson of Sasakawa, Polly Ann (Abraham) Owl of Stilwell, and Toni Fixico (Johnny) of Wewoka; brother: Willie Dean Harjo of Sasakawa; also by a host of nieces, nephews, friends and other relatives.
Viewingwill be Tuesday from 2 until 8 p.m. and Wednesday from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m.
The casket will be taken to the Silver Spring Baptist Church at 4 p.m. with Wake Services scheduled for 7 p.m.
Pallbearers will be, Logan Gore, Joshua Burgess, Garrett Sands, Solomon Lee, Trenton Tarpaleechee, and J. W. Harjo, III. Honorary pallbearers, Jeremy Tecumseh, Joe Williams, Preston Williams, Monroe Burgess, Jr., Mason Harjo and nephews of Elsie.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 18, 2018 at Silver Spring Baptist Church with Rev. A. J. Tiger and Rev. Gary Hawkins officiating. Interment will follow in Burgess Family Cemetery near Schulter under direction and care of Integrity Funeral Service.
