Angela Polk and Rebecca Hold were hostesses for the October 16 meeting of the Okemah Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution at Pepino’s Restaurant in Okemah. The tables were decorated with seasonal fall décor with patriotic accents.
dar1It was a special meeting for the Okemah Chapter as they welcomed the honorable Oklahoma Daughters of the American Revolution State Regent, Sue Suthers Allen from Ponca City.
Madam State Regent Allen gave the program, “Harvesting for Veterans,” explaining her State Regent’s Project to provide financial assistance for veterans’ programs which include Team Rubicon, Partners for Heroes, and our state’s seven Oklahoma Veteran’s Centers.
Each Oklahoma State DAR member is to donate ten cents a day or $36.50 to the state projects as one of the fund raisers.
After Regent Rebecca Hold led the opening ritual, flag salute, and the National Anthem, Regent Hold and Dorothy Haynes, acting as Chaplain in the absence of Susan Barnett, honored two special members with a total of 90 years of dedication and membership in DAR. These two members received beautiful engraved certificates from the National Society of DAR and a single long-stemmed rose. Ann Jackson was honored for 50 years of membership, and Mary June Cashman was honored for 40 years.
Rebecca Hold Okemah Regent will be sewing a quilt block for our chapter which will be included in the Oklahoma State Quilt to be displayed at the 128th DAR Continental Congress in Washington, DC, in June of 2018 and entered in the American Heritage Contest. dar2
