There will be school board elections in Dewar and Morris this year following the close of the candidate filing period Wednesday afternoon.
Henryetta voters will not be going to the polls with Pam Bealko automatically taking the school board seat 4 after no one filed against her. Casey Jones, the incumbent, decided not to file for re-election. He said the decision not to run was, “an extremely tough decision. I feel comfortable that the changes we have made over the past few years have enough momentum to keep getting better.”
Bealko is a former Henryetta businesswoman and has been a resident of Henryetta for a number of years.
In Morris, Jessica Key-Caldwell, Dana Mims and Kyle Brooks are seeking election to the school board seat 4 slot.
Dewar voters will be choosing between Carla Hall and Lloyd Gather for that school board seat.
Under state law, the Morris election will be held Feb. 12 while Dewar voters will be going to the polls April 2.
