Jo Thompson, age 96, died Jan. 4, 2019. She was born in El Reno to Frank Schott and Katherine Schlauder Schott. Her family moved from Germany to Oklahoma in the early 1900s. Jo attended school in El Reno and then moved to Oklahoma City to attend St. Anthony's School of Nursing. She worked as an RN for many years.
On December 26, 1950 she married Red Thompson and they made Henryetta their home. They had two daughters Vicki and Pam. Jo and Red built what was to become one of Henryetta's most notable icons, the IN and OUT Drive-in. They owned and operated the IN and OUT until 1977. Jo is preceded in death by her parents, beloved husband of 68 years Red Thompson, one brother and four sisters.
She is survived by two daughters: Vicki Taylor and husband Michael and Pam Thompson and husband Danny; two granddaughters: Stephanie Laird, Lauren Whitlock and husband Travis; two grandsons: Mike Taylor and wife Amanda, Kent Taylor and wife Denise; eight great-grandchildren: Kendall, JJ, Will and Avery Perez, Aubrie Whitlock, Matthew Taylor, Harrison and Scarlett Taylor, and Jaboni and Savanna Minyard. Sister-in-law Thelma Wilson and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at Rogers Funeral Home Chapel Tuesday, January 8 at 1pm. Burial will follow at the Westlawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital or HAART (Henryetta Animal Aid and Rescue Team).
Family will be receiving friends Monday evening at Rogers Funeral Home from 6 to 8 p.m.
