softball regionals

Henryetta’s Lady Knights are heading to state following an up and down ride at their regional tournament Friday.
The HHS team will be facing top-ranked Dale in the tournament opener at Fire Lake ball field in Shawnee at 10 a.m. Wednesday.
They earned the right after taking the regional championship away from fifth-ranked Calera in a decisive 17-2 contest.
That game saw home runs by Avery Miller, Kasdei Gobin, Lexi Lollis, Jaylynn Joslin and Lauren Lee.
Calera only managed to get single runs in the first and second innings.
Henryetta dominated with nine runs in the first, three more in the second, then the five in the third ended the contest.
That win made up for the 13-11 loss Calera handed out to Henryetta in the opening game.
Calera started off the game with back to back home runs but Lee tied it up with a two run homer that scored Gobin. A single by Huleah Wincle drove Madelyn Blackbear home for a 3-2 lead.
In the third inning, Calera scored on a three-run then a two-run homer. Lee and Miller each answered back with solo home runs to make it 7-2 against the Lady Knights.
in the fourth, Calera had two more homers but Henryetta had a single by Wincle that scored Autumn Blackbear.
The gap narrowed in the fifth with Henryetta picking up five runs while allowing Calera only four.
That loss sent Henryetta against Pocola, a team they had faced and beaten two weeks previously.
The Lady Knights put up 11 runs in the second inning to strengthen a 2-1 lead then added three more in the third, two in the sixth and four in the seventh for the 22-9 victory.
This trip to the state tournament will be the first for Henryetta since 2013 when they lost in the finals.
Also on the brackets will be Washington (10), Valliant (7), Howe (4) Prague (6), Oktaha (8) and Silo (2).
