For a short time it appeared as though the Lady Knights would be in contention for a state 4A slow pitch softball title.
Henryetta started out strong with six runs in the first inning but the Dale Lady Pirates would answer back with four of their own in the first then seven in the second to take a lead that could not be overcome. Eventually Dale run-ruled Henryetta 21-11 in five innings. The Lady Pirates would continue their run rule march through the tournament ranks to become the state champions. They downed Valliant 17-7 int he semi finals then easily handled Silo 19-4 for the title.
Lauren Lee opened the Henryetta scoring in the first with a three run homer then Madelyn and Autumn Blackbear getting on by singles then Huleah WIncle pounded a double bringing them home. Wincle would cross home plate when Kalie Hamric nailed a double into the soggy outfield.
That would be the last time the Lady Knights would get on the board until the fifth. With two outs, Kasedi Gobin singled them came home on a smash by Jaylynn Joslin that cleared the fence. Lee would walk then score on an Avery Miller homer followed by a solo out of the park by Madelyn Blackbear.
During the day, Dale would pound out seven home runs including a grand slam in the fifth that capped off the battle.
Henryetta had a dozen hits during the game with both Blackbears, Gobin and Wincle all collecting multiple hits.
