Calella Black a resident of Henryetta, died Sept. 1, 2019 in Tulsa at the age of 81. She was born July 26, 1938 in Henryetta to Noel and Pauline (Donathan) Kennedy. Calella graduated from Wilson High in 1956 and was Valedictorian of her class. She married Ron Black in 1957 and they just celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary last Saturday. She was a pillar of the Wilson community her whole life where she was President of the Wilson thimble club and managed the Cemetery.
She held several secretary positions then went back to college in 1988 at NSU. Graduating with a 4.0 average. She won many scholastic awards, one being a trip to Washington DC for an outstanding Business leadership award.
After graduation she began teaching Business education at Fairland and then Stigler VoTech. She also started the Business Education Department at Green Country Votech in Okmulgee. She retired from American Exchange Bank where she headed up the Human Resource Department.
She was faithful pastors wife for 49 years, teaching ladies Sunday school classes. She is preceded in death by her parents, brother Jessie Kennedy and sister Peggy Jo.
She is survived by her husband Ron Black of the home; children: Ronnie Black of Nashville, TN, Wes Black and wife Elaine of Bellville, TX and Sherri Parker and husband Trampas of Okmulgee; grandchildren: Sarah Black, Kevin Black, Brittany Randleman and husband Ryan, Paige Thomas and husband Brett, Ricky Baker and wife Kaylee; eight great grandchildren: Mavrix, Mya, Raygin, Cadyn, Breckyn, Kamry, Ryder and Ridge; sister Judy Porter of Muskogee
The family will be receiving friends at the Funeral home Tuesday evening from 6 to 8 p.m.
Funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, Sept. 4, 2019 at the Wilson Baptist Church with Rev. Ryan Wells, officiating and Rev. Jack Vance, assisting. Interment will follow at the Salt Creek Cemetery under the direction of the Rogers Funeral Home.
