Every year Henryetta high school students get involved in several blood drives. They depend upon community support as well as from fellow students donating pints of blood.
That effort is going to be recognized this week with Henryetta named as the state leader in blood donations for class 3A schools.obi logo
Last year a total of 198 pints of blood were donated locally. “This is something the students and school administrators should be proud of,” said Oklahoma Blood Institute consultant Lucy Laird.
She said a special banner will be presented to the students at the blood drive this Friday at the high school auditorium. “The community is to be recognized for helping make this possible,” HHS principal Kelly Furer said. “We had a lot of help from our firemen and police stepping up to donate.”
In addition to the banner, seven Henryetta seniors will each receive a $500 scholarship from OBI.
The Friday blood drive is Bedlam-themed. Each donor will be able to make a selection of an OU or OSU t-shirt. It will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
