Nancy Ruth (Makinson) Brown, Fairland, Okla., died Jan. 6, 2020 at the age of age 67 Nancy was born on January 12, 1952 in Okmulgee to Vernon Makinson and Myrtle (Ballard) Makinson. She accepted Christ at First Baptist Church in Hoffman in 1966. She attended elementary in Hoffman and high school in Morris where she dropped out her senior year to marry the love of her life and move with him to Missouri. She went back to get her GED and graduated Del Capita Mu from East Central University in Ada with a bachelors degree in social work. Nancy met the love of her life, Wendall Wayne Brown, when she was 14. They married on December 28, 1969 at First Christian Church in Morris. Their first home was in Herculaneum, MO and the pair later moved back to Okmulgee where her and Wendall became involved in youth ministry at Okmulgee Southside in 1980 and she continued as a minister’s wife for nearly 40 years. She supported her husband in Seminary December 1985 to July 1987 at SWBTS in Fort Worth, Tex.
She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Wendall Brown of the home, her son, William Brown and his wife Cassie, her daughters, Wendy Brown and Whitney Brown, three grandchildren, Noah, Ezra and Micky. Her brothers Vernie, Arnold and Wayne Makinson. Her sisters MaryJane and David Reynolds, Ann Wiggins, Janet and Jarrett Kelough and numerous nephews and nieces.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Vernon Makinson and Myrtle (Ballard) Makinson. Brothers Gary, Ernie, Frank and Dean Makinson.
Her best friends growing up were Denny Lee, Dawni and Ronnie Brison. She was godmother to their son Ronnie Wayne Brison.
The services will be a Celebration of Life and they will be at Warrens Branch Baptist Church in Seneca, MO at 2 p.m. Feb. 29, 2020.
