It appeared the Lady Knights would be the winners of the opening game in the Okmulgee County Tournament Monday afternoon.
After leading in two of the four quarters, the HHS girls saw Beggs come back in the fourth to take a 65-49 win. That sends Henryetta into the consolation rounds and a Wednesday afternoon game at 4 against the Schulter Lady Bulldogs. Schulter lost the opening game 77-10 against Morris.
Starting off the HHS-Beggs contest fans were treated to a back and forth match up as the Lady Knights dropped in three long-distance field goals to help with a 15-13 lead at the first quarter.
That nearly even matchup continued in the second period but Beggs pulled ahead to lead 32-27 at mid-game but the Lady Knights charged back to regain the lead, 47-43 in the third period.
Beggs came away with the win in the fourth, sinking 22 points compared to only a dozen for Henryetta.
HHS senior Kaylie Hamric had 14 of the total points for Henryetta while Lavenda Billy and Katelyn Dwiggins each contributed 11. Kim Fowler, Emily Smith and Autumn Blackbear put six points each on the board. Katelyn Williamson shot a three-pointer in the second quarter for her only goal of the night.
