For the third time this fiscal year, the Henryetta sales tax return took a drop.
Based on sales from Dec. 18 to 31 and estimated sales from Jan. 1 through 15, the city received $221,314.19. That was a drop of $5,997 from the same period a year ago.
The state sales tax return to Henryetta was down $2,500 in July and $11,190 in October of 2019. The fiscal year runs from July 1 through June 30.
By contrast, the Henryetta use tax return had a $3,521 increase with a check from the state for $35,137.
That decline was also felt by the state distribution to Okmulgee County with a drop of $12,824 this. The county received $370,332 compared with $383,157 a year ago.
Okmulgee’s city check had a big hit as $505,178 was sent this year compared with $551,538 a year ago. It was the fifth month that the Okmulgee city sales tax should a decline during the current fiscal year.
By contrast, Dewar’s check from the state showed a health increase with $13,173 returned this month compared to $160,933 a year ago.
Around the area, Weleetka received $22,223, an increase over the $17,025 last year; Okemah had a $1,000 drop to $100,256 but the tax rate also was reduced from .035 to .03 during that reporting period.
