A complaint of shooting with intent to kill has been levied against Cameron Austin Burgess after an early morning incident in Henryetta.
Burgess, 22, was taken into custody at an apartment in Okmulgee shortly after the shooting on Northeast Third Street in Henryetta.cameron burgess
He is accused of shooting Trashe Shannon in the leg during an argument around 5:30 a.m. He has been taken to the Okmulgee County jail awaiting his first court appearance.
Henryetta police chief Steve Norman said Burgess and Shannon were spending the night at the house. They are believed to be Okmulgee residents.
The shooting was reported by the homeowner and, by the time officers arrived, Burgess had already left the residence.
Shannon was taken to a Tulsa hospital for treatment of the gunshot wound.
Norman said officers are still trying to get all the details of the incident. “Neither the victim or Burgess are cooperating with officers,” he said.
This is not the first shooting Burgess and Shannon were involved in. On March 6, 2019 Okmulgee police responded to a shooting call in that town.
Shannon had been shot in the chest, stomach, leg and head. Burgess was shot in the foot. At the time of the shooting, Shannon was pregnant and the unborn baby died as a result. The shooter in that incident, Rashod Griffin, was arrested and has been charged with multiple felonies including first degree murder and two counts of shooting with intent to kill. He is awaiting sentencing and is in the Okmulgee County jail.
