Following another round of flooding at the Early Childhood Center building, the school is looking at ways to prevent future incidents.
As a result of the June 9 storms, water flooded into the building soaking carpets and damaging sheetrock.
School maintenance manager Herman Fox said the sheetrock walls have been cut out above the damage and carpet pulled up. He recommended going with tile floors in the future to eliminate the possibility of mold and mildew. He wants the school to look into the possibility of constructing a protective dirt berm around the north side of the building to channel the water away.
This was the second time in two years the building has been flooded. It sustained serious damage in the June 2013 downpour that caused several months of cleanup.
