The economic impact of the coronavirus is starting to show on the Henryetta city finances.
This month the state sales tax check to the town was $8,041 less than a year ago. That money is based on actual sales from March 16 to 31 and estimated sales from April 1 to April 15.
This month the town received $238,140 compared with $246,182 a year ago. It is the fourth dip in sales tax revenues this fiscal year and the largest single monthly loss.
Other towns around the area fared better with Dewar, Okmulgee, Beggs and Weleetka all posting gains.
The Okmulgee share of sales tax monies amounted to $545,158, a gain over the $509,222 last year.
Dewar received $13,023 compared to $9,970 at the same time a year ago.
Beggs picked up $41,908, a gain over $33,821 for May 2019.
Weleetka banked $40,440 compared to $17,184 last year.
Statewide, the disbursement of $146,166,497 in sales tax collections returned to the cities and towns reflected a decrease of $14,180,567 from the $160,347,064 distributed to the cities and towns in May last year.
