The vote in Okmulgee County matched the feelings of the rest of the state in picking winners Tuesday.
Nearly 6,000 voters turned out for the primary election that saw candidates running for several local offices as well as state and federal positions.
The closest race was on State Question 802. Okmulgee County voted against the proposition by a narrow 190 vote margin. There were 2,892 nay votes and 2,702 voting to approve it. That was contrary to the state vote where 340,279 voters approved it and 333,761 voted against.
Two school board positions, one at Graham-Dustin and the other at Morris, saw decisions made. Ronda Flanagan will take the seat at Graham with 108 votes compared to 83 cast for Sheena Proctor.
In Morris, Kendall Warren will be on the school board after receiving 276 votes opposed to 275 for Phillip Ward.
R.C. Morrow was the winner of the Okmulgee County commissioner district 2 spot with 426 votes. Steve Ward had 289 and David Earhart had 278.
The District 24 State Representative race was handily won by Logan Phillips. The incumbent candidate picked up 1,401 votes or nearly 53 percent in the four-person race. John Baca came in second with 533 followed by Sam Stamper with 418 and Elijah Harrison with 297.
Phillips will now be on the November ballot facing former state representative Steve Kouplen, a democrat and Richie Cataldo, a libertarian.
County election officials said there was an increase in the number of absentee ballots that were sent out. A total of 570 absentee ballots were requested for this primary, nearly reaching the 650 absentee ballots sent out in the 2016 general election.
