Two New Mexico men are in jail facing charges of drug trafficking after Henryetta police arrested them Sunday.
charles ransomHPD officers Theron Richards and Sg. Brandon England stopped Mark Herrera, 27, and Charles Ransom, 54, just west of town. According to police they questioned the pair then searched their vehicle finding a bag containing over 20 grams of what is alleged to be heroin and another bag of a powdery substance believed to be methamphetamine.
During the search, over 100 hypodermic needles were found.
The two were taken into custody without incident.
Ransom was booked into the Okmulgee County jail on complaints of trafficking over 10 grams of heroin, possession of drug paraphernalia, driving under the influence, possession of marijuana and possession of a schedule 1 or 2 drug.

“Because the weights of the two bags were over 20 grams, we were able to file the trafficking charges,” said police chief Steve Norman. “We think these two individuals were just passing through but this stop will keep others down the highway from getting the drugs.”
